Changes for Prairie River Artists

Spring has brought some changes for the Prairie River Artists.

The following group members will be leaving this summer. June Ricklefs, founder of the group, is moving to Christopher Lake.  Hilda Hackett, Al Johnson and Owen McCormack are retiring from the group this year. Lorraine Khachatourians has been accepted into the Artists’ Workshop group in Saskatoon.

The group will welcome the following new members in September when it resumes its biweekly painting sessions together:

Wendy Bertelsen, who works in watercolours and other media

James Chung, who works primarily in watercolours, gel pens and graphite

Renee Duddridge, who works in acrylics and other media

Diane Warren, who works in oil, graphite and pastel

The group wishes all those who are leaving all the best in their new endeavors, and looks forward to getting to know the newest members of the group in the fall.

Eileen Greer’s current show

Eileen Greer, one of our members, is having a solo show entitled ‘The Beauty of Nature’ at the Meewasin Valley Centre Gallery, until February 28th.

 

End of the year

This month at our December painting session we had our annual pot luck lunch. We managed to lunch and paint. Everyone is working away on new pieces for our April show.

Winter works

Now that winter is truly here in Saskatoon, our group is settled in and working away towards our spring 2011 show. Some new photos of some our people at work. Look on the lower right of the page for the flickr link to see the current photos.

 

Current group show

Our group show is now up at the Magenta Gallery at Circle Park Mall. It will be there until October 16. We hope you can come by.

We will be getting our fall painting meetings underway shortly and we are all looking forward to another winter of painting together. If you like to mark you calendars ahead of time, our 2011 show will take place April 9th and 10th at the Albert Community Centre.

Summer news

We will be having a group show at the Magenta Gallery, Circle Mall on 8th Street in Saskatoon. The show will be up from September 6 to October 10 during Mall hours.

Also we took advantage of some days between rain to give our art display boards a coat of paint so that they will be ready for next April’s annual show at the Albert Community Centre. You can check out some photos on our flickr link (lower right panel).

Summer hiatus

After our recent annual show, the members of the Prairie River Artists take a summer hiatus, and will meet again in September to begin our ninth year together. We will be having a group show in August at the galleries at Circle Park. Information on the exact dates will be posted later. Have a great summer!
